I was honoured to present my honours research at the Symposium on The Agency of Muslim Women in the Australian Context on 21- 22 February 2018 at Darling Harbor!

Click here for program details of the symposium!

It was a wonderful and much-needed event where it gave Muslim women (and men!), a space to share their research, activism, projects and more importantly a voice where they can be heard!
I was honoured to have attended with many Muslims and Non-Muslims who are scholars, activists, organisation mangers, lawyers and artists sharing their experiences and empowering Muslim Women in Australia!
I was the only person presenting about disability or hearing loss and I shared my honours research about Australian Lebanese- Muslim Women with hearing loss as well as some of the recent projects and videos I have created for raising awareness and support for Deaf Muslims in Sydney.

I am also very grateful because the Symposium organisers booked 2 Auslan sign language Interpreters who stayed with me the whole day, interpreting for me! The interpreters are from a non-Muslim background and they told me they learnt a lot and what a wonderful and interesting day it was!
